CTX 3030 Troubleshooting

General Rules:
  • Ensure Batteries are fully charged
  • Perform Factory Reset
  • Ensure inside of skid plate is clean
  • No power (Alkaline)

    1. Have you tried a new set of batteries? If yes goto [B].
    2. Are the batteries correctly inserted? If yes goto [C].
    3. Is there damage/corrosion on the batteries? If yes, remove the batteries and clean the terminals, then try another set of batteries. If not, go to [E].
    4. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    No Power (Li-ion)

    1. If no spare batteries or chargers to experiment with, go to [E].
    2. DO NOT SHIP FAULTY LI-ION BATTERY ASSEMBLY!
    3. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    No Target Response

    1. Try a different target or search mode. If not fixed goto [B].
    2. Try an all metal search pattern or accept the entire screen. If not fixed goto [C].
    3. Change to a known good coil. If not fixed goto [D].
    4. Try a "Factory Reset". If not fixed goto [E].
    5. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Ground Balance Fault

    1. Unless detecting in heavily mineralised ground, do not use Ground Balance function. If this is not the case and GB still not functional, go to [B].
    2. Ensure GB is 'enabled' and then press 'start' whilst moving the coil up and down. If not fixed, goto [C].
    3. Review our Treasure Talk Articles or our YouTube Channel for GB tips and tricks. Is the issue fixed? If not goto [E].
    4. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Unstable/Noisy/False Signals

    1. Is there electrical interference in the area (Pylons etc.)? If yes, carry out a noise cancel. Is the issue fixed? If no, move away from EMI. If not fixed, goto [B].
    2. Is the sensitivity set too high? If yes, reduce sensitivity. If no, go to [C].
    3. Is the ground mineralised? If yes, use Auto Sensitivity. If mineralisation is severe it may also need a Ground Balance (refer the Manual). If no, goto [E].
    4. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Lacks depth and/or Sensitivity

    1. Are you keeping the coil sweep as parallel/close to the ground as possible? If yes, go to [B].
    2. Check sensitivity setting - is the issue fixed? If no, go to [C]. NOTE: On wet sand, use Manual Sensitivity.
    3. Remove the skid plate and clean out dirt. Is the issue fixed? If no goto [D].
    4. Change coil with a known good coil. Is the issue fixed? If yes return defective coil. If no goto [E].
    5. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Battery/Charger fault

    1. If no spare batteries or chargers to experiment with, contact your Local Dealer for assistance.

    Water ingress

    1. Remove the batteries immediately and go to [E].
    2. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Intermittent Operation

    1. Gather information as much information as possble and go to [E].
    2. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Audio Fault (intermittent/headphone)

    1. Is the fault with the speaker or Minelab supplied headphones? If headphones, goto "B". If speaker, goto [E].
    2. Change to known good headphones - is the issue fixed? If yes, return only Minelab branded Headphones for warranty repair. If no, go to [E].
    3. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    No Information Supplied

    1. Gather information and send in the suspect component. Go to [E].
    2. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    LCD Fault (miss segments, frozen screen)

    1. Check contrast settings, if not fixed, go to [B].
    2. Perform factory reset. If not fixed, go to [E].
    3. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Keypad/controls (incl. switches)

    1. Go to [E].
    2. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Coil fault mechanical

    1. Go to [E].
    2. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Accessory fault

    1. Gather information and go to [E].
    2. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Software fault (incl. GPS)

    1. Upgrade the s/w on line. Is the issue fixed? If no, go to [B].
    2. Carry out a factory reset, press and hold the power on button and turn on (Select "Reset All"). Is the issue fixed? If no, go to [E].
    3. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Wireless Module fault

    1. Repeat Pairing process. If problem not fixed go to [B].
    2. Recharge WM-10 and try again. If it is still faulty, go to [C].
    3. Unplug headphones and turn detector off and on again. If it is still faulty, go to [E].
    4. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.

    Mechanical/Hardware fault or damage

    1. Gather information and send in the suspect component, Goto [E].
    2. Contact your nearest Authorised Service Centre and explain issue observed.
